Sunflower Seeds Varieties
Once the flowers are fully open, the sunflowers can be cut for arrangement. To harvest the seeds, leave the sunflower on the stem until the petals fall off and the seed heads are completely dry. The seeds can then be easily removed by hand, or the complete seed heads can be tied to fences and posts or left in place for winter feed for birds and squirrels.

To plant your sunflowers, sow your seeds in late spring or early summer. Sunflowers prefer loose, well-drained soil and need six to eight hours of full sun each day. Continuous planting will ensure that new plants always bloom. Water sunflower plants once a week. Taller plants may need support to stay upright.
